Not a whole lot this week. Just on the same old grind--trying to balance learning how to be a missionary and learn a whole new language. It's a challenge, and I love it for sure. There were some frustrations this week. Not just from me but from the district as a whole. It feels like the rapid growth we had the first few weeks is starting to slow down as we`re getting into deeper grammar and doctrine. It is hard because as we know the vocabulary and what root word is needed, if we don't take the time to structure it correctly then people can understand what we`re saying.....we just sound like 2 year olds to them. And ya boi isn't trying to sound like a 2 year old.
This last Tuesday, when another Latino group left was the first time I thought, "I'm over the whole CCM thing." I just want to get to Paraguay and learn Spanish on my feet while actually teaching... but soon enough I guess, right?
General Conference was amazing, of course. I almost forgot to write about that because that feels like it was 3 weeks ago. But it was crazy awesome! I have never been so hyped for a General Conference in my life. All the Americans got to watch it in the conference room and things like, "5 MIN TIL GAME TIME," or "Henry B is mah boi!" were common phrases. I loved hearing from the amazing men and women of our church and the overall theme of simplifying the truths you know, clinging to those truths, and bettering ourselves through strengthening our relationship with the Holy Ghost. Sounds like they're getting us prepped for something big, no?
It was kind of a bummer this Saturday. Because of conference, we did not go out into the city of Buenos Aires. But we were able to focus our efforts and improve that much more and we are excited to go out this Saturday and do it again. We're really excited to get at it! The flame was lit again as another Elder and I were able to get 2 referrals from the CCM fence line as we were playing basketball. It was just a reminder of why I'm here. Really excited to actually get at it.
Like I said not much this week. I want to thank everyone who has emailed me so much, and want you to know how much I LOVE getting them. When I hop onto my emails on Thursdays, I go through and copy and paste them into a document so I can get a physical copy printed out and take my time to read and enjoy them. So, usually I won't get a chance to respond until the following week--but I will do my best to respond. Letters here are worth more than gold, so don't feel rushed and know I love and appreciate them all.
Love you all. Keep doing great things.
Elder Parker Juan Yocum
