Let's Get Down to Business

As the subject states, I'll be taking a line out of Mulan's book today. One thing that always cracked me up about missions was waiting for the first few months for a missionaries letters to go "full missionary".... Well my friends, today, for me, is that day.

The last week or so has just been really eye opening.  I've been diving deeply into doctrine and have been able to realize a lot of great things. It was a culmination of several things this week--from prosilitismo to lectures from our MTC President, and lots of prayer, fasting, and scripture reading. We watched a MTC devotional that Jeffrey R. Holland gave and it was awesome and made a lot of great points (Elder Harris you know what one I'm talking about).  He talked about our purpose as missionaries is to invite others to come unto Christ. But, you can't invite people unless you are standing there with Him. If I'm going to be out there preaching His gospel, I have to buy in and know for myself that it's true--and be and do everything I want for my investigators.

I'm here today to tell you that not only do I believe, but that I know these things to be true. The Church of Jesus Christ is a church, yes. It is the same church Christ established while He lived a perfect life on earth and lead with a perfect example. But my goal here is not to bring people to a church, or a club. I have given these two years to bring people to Christ:  their Lord, their Redeemer, and their Savior. Because we are His true church, because we have His full gospel, and the authority to act in His name.

Because I know this to be true, I give everything to Him. My time, my effort, my works, my energy--all that I am and all that He will make me. I give Him everything because He IS EVERYTHING. He fills my souls and gives me rest. I give Him my life to guide me, because I know through Him He will make me better than I ever could myself.

How do I know this? How do I know Christ? As Elder Uchtdorf said, "some things are so sacred they can't be explained in worldly terms."

Be Not Afraid, Only Believe--Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
My mom is going to put up a link of His priesthood talk on my blog, and I encourage you all to watch it, then think about it and the significance of what I wrote, and what Elder Uchtdorf says. Then, I challenge you to find out for yourselves if this is true or not. Two scenarios can happen here...you spent some time trying something out and it didn't turn out to be true and you move on. The other side is it's true... and salvation and eternal life and everything that God wants for you is attainable. Your salvation and soul depend on this question...

Who is Christ? and how do I truly get close to Him?

I challenge you all to come to know for yourselves.

I love you all, and the next time you hear from me, I'll be in Paraguay!

God be with you,

Elder Yocum
