Transfers?!?

No, everything is cool beans here. Although, I do have to say, transfers are crazy todo via. I´ve finished my first 6 weeks in the field, baby! (can I get a woot woot) Let me fill you in on the craziness.

So first of all, they like giving us zero notice if there is a change or not, and then you won't know your new area until you get there. If you get the call, you have to be at the Asunción terminal at 8 am. When do you get the call? 3 pm the day before. So, it was that night that we're all freaking out because we know that 1) Elder M, the companion of Elder G, the other companionship in Paraguari and in our apartment was leaving (super sad), 2) even crazier, that Elder G had to be at the mission home bright and early the next day because HE IS TRAINING and, 3) the Acahay area (the area right next to them), is getting closed down and both Elders being extracted and placed elsewhere. So as of now, our district consists of the 4 dudes in our apartment.

The next day, Elder G went and picked up fresh and new and verde ite ("Greenie," which is mission slang for a missionary just barely coming to Paraguay). Elder F of Idaho Falls, ID. A really cool guy who has a great mindset.  I'm looking forward to working with him. It is really funny though--3 gringos in an apartment where the one with the most experience, my trainer, doesn't even have 6 months in the field. We know it's Elder G' fault. He's going to BYU after the mission, and not knowing any English before the mission, has been praying fervently to have opportunities to learn English. So God stuck him in a house with 3 green U.S. Elders.

(WHAT THERE'S MORE DRAMA?) Why yes, there is. Later that same day we get a call. Yes, the missionaries in Acahay are being pulled out and they are white washing it, but it's not closing down completely. They are handing the keys to the entire area, to Elder B and I. So in one day, one of the biggest areas on it's own, was added to our own area. Yes, more than 300 KM was added to our area. Its loco ite. So it's going to be a lot of bus rides and a lot of money and a lot of work and a lot of happiness. We are already good friends with the branch president who lives in Paraguari and is a stud. The Lord has a lot of success for us out there. Its Campo ite (country) and just very nature of Paraguay. Excited for the work!

Till next time,
Elder Yocum
