Twas the week before Christmas and all in the mision. . .

Everyone was going nuts.

Well people, what a week, what a week! We're going to break this one down like a dear friend of mine, Elder Bair does.

Monday- Pday! Kind of, not really. I got a call late Sunday night that I had to be in Asuncion in the morning for immigrations. Got there and got to see everyone in my group and they carted us all on our own (without trainers) in taxis and we just had to sign some papers for the government.  Then we had to be in ITA (area of our ZL's) for PRACTICES for NAVIDAD, which so far, has taken up every one of my P-days. We got back that night to shop, then try and email, only to have the power knocked out because of a storm and getting my shoes filled with water for no reason. Sad face.

Tuesday- A bit of a mess because we had to go to ITA for our district meeting for some reason tonto. My whole district lives in the same house, but they made us go to ITA for our meeting and so we could practice our talent. No intiendo.

Wednesday- CHRISTMAS ACTIVITY! We slept the night in ITA and in the morning had our whole mision meet together for the Christmas activity at this super chuchi ranch like place for family reunions? no sé pero fue purete ite. (I don't know, but it was cool!) Tons of food and tons of meeting new people. We had a talent show where every zone showed a talent, then a boss choir at the end with some hermanas who could HIT some high notes. Then they just gave us the rest of the day to play and hangout in the sweltering heat of Paraguay. Volleyball, soccer, and of course, some good ol football with some good ole American boys. Yesssssss!

That night, there were multiple people who had gaping eyes as Elder Yocum received THREE packages. A tad embarrassing, but obviously I'll get over it. One I saw was from the Armendarez family which was super cool! Oh how useful those boots will become. Also, shout out to the best mom eveerrrr with the coolest pre-Christmas package ever. Seriously, I read the paper and it mentioned a tree and I had no idea how you had hid a tree in that box. Seriously, the coolest thing ever! Thank you so much.

Thursday- Hit pavement hard and met with 4 less active or member families that we are working with. The temple is a big thing that we are focusing on with people, so a good solid day in Paraguarí.

Friday- Spent all day in Acahay, super cool stuff going down. The problem over there is leadership. They have a branch president, and elders quorum president, and a soc. de soc. president, and an inactive primary president...... none have any counselors, and few including the president know what they're doing. haha  So we're having a training with them this Sunday, we were going to have a guy from our ward teach it, but after the district president heard about it he loved the idea so much that he's taking full control and the whole district presidency and other auxillary leaders are going to come and have a training for them and all counselors and other people that can show any future in church leadership there. 2 weeks ago they had 7 people show up to church. this Sunday they had 25!! PROGRESSION!!

Saturday- sweet lessons with some golden investigators in San Roque (a 40 min bus ride) awesome lunch and a goood time watching the Joseph Smith videos. not too much to talk about there.

Sunday- great Sunday! A lot talked about dropping our own will and taking upon us the will of Christ, something I've been focusing on teaching people too, and divisions with HRMO Gonzalez and his son. Hrmo Gonzalez is a Paraguayan OG to the church, one of the first and one of the strongest.

Super excited to Skype on the 26! We have all of the 25 off and the 31 and 1 because things get so nutty here! Excited.

Super cool thought too. Lately it hasn't felt like I imagined a mission would feel. Just in bringing in new converts and letting the ward take them. since I've been here, it hasn't been 'get numbers higher' its 'reestablish this ward and get it functioning normal' 'take care of this problem.' Its just cool, it feels like here, we aren't just building Zion, but helping establish it.

Love and Miss you all. If you're reading this and having shot me an email yet, give me some Christmas love. miss you all.

Elder Yocum
