Blog Worthy

So, this week we've got some big things coming up.

It was an interesting week. Some of the divisions happened and others got cancelled. We even threw a sick day in the mix when Elder R wasn't feeling well. But it was a good week. It was a lot of setting up for this week which is going to be awesome!

Tomorrow I'll be in Asuncion with an assistant for divisions. I'll need to be up at 5:00 am to take a 3 hour bus ride to make it in time for the district meeting, but it'll be fun. On Thursday, we have an epic day of service planned with familia C who live way out in Pindoty, where once again I will be able to work like a real cowboy and even eat another cow's head. I'm hoping I will be able to eat a little more of the tongue this time. Super good!

Friday, we have the baptism of F, the niece of our branch president, who is super capa which will be a really nice service and beautiful. We feel very blessed these last weeks to see the success that has come and the service we are able to give people.

That night ALL our elders in the zone will be sleeping in the same house (makanadas) because at 4AM WE HEAD TO ASUNCION TO SEE ELDER RASBAND AND ELDER CHRISTIANSEN.  I'm so pumped. Coolest early Christmas present ever. They gave us a talk he gave a ways back about how missionaries are assigned to missions and we are just really excited to be able to hear from an apostle and someone from the presidency of the 70!!! It is so crazy. It will be such an incredibly enriching day. Super excited for it.

This week I was able to have divisions in PASO YOBAI with Elder M. He is Paraguayo and from the same group as Elder C, so it was like a little blast to the past, and a ton of fun. ELDER NG IS HERE. I guess i really do have some good friends out there in YOBAI.

President totally hooked em up with brand new bikes and so we FLEW around Paso Yobai. It was awesome!

The best part of the night was visiting LA, who has been inactive for the last 3 months because he got work kind of far away and it makes it hard for him to work and he feels SO BAD. When he saw that it was me who pulled up he started tearing up. He says he's trying all he can to find another job so he can get to the church. He talked a lot about the goals that he had in the church while I was there and how Satan is so tricky and he never saw what working on Sundays would turn out to be. He said he was so happy to see me and we were able to talk a lot about faith in Christ and repentance, and the need to believe in miracles. He's such a good guy and knows that he needs to ask for it, but just feels really guilty before God because he's keeping the commitment of man more than he is his commitments with God, and it's true, but repentance is always an option. A way to put aside the weight of sin.

We were able to talk him into saying the prayer and it was one of the most sincere prayers I think I've ever heard. He prayed for forgiveness and help to find a way out of this contract. I love that guy.

Sunday was a cool experience. 1 was N, who started the sacrament meeting in the far back by himself and ended the meeting with 4 girls his age sitting next to him. Stud. This week he went to institute, the workshop for self sufficiency, and hung out with the members his age. The friendshipping here is incredible. The best thing you guys can do for a missionary is invite and include converts.

The other part was my talk I gave. I was able to pick the topic and as i prayed, I felt I needed to talk about the plan of salvation and the need for family councils to help you to complete that plan. A little weird, right? I was a little confused by it, but the reason for the prompting came soon.

Hrma F a returned missionary with a complicated life that has reactivated with us came up to me at the end of the meeting with tears in her eyes thanking me for my talk. She is heading off to Spain in 2 weeks to work and said "I don't know why, but I feel like I need that ensign that you read from. I know that the first message I'm suppose to share with those in Spain is that same message you shared with us today. I appreciated your talk so much and your manner of speaking with power and authority. It is a testimony of the reality and truthfulness of what you shared. Thank you."

Yeah, i didn't really know what to say either, just thanked Heavenly Father for being able to know why i got that prompting.

It was a good week. I miss you guys and hope things are able to cool down with all this election stuff. Glad to be far from it. Remember to focus on those things that are the most important.

Also, if you are reading this if l'd love to get a picture of everyone to see how they look now. I realized it's been a while.

All my love,
Elder Yocum
