I never really know what to say in these general emails anymore. All the days just kinda blend together and I have to try and think of some highlights.
L is super awesome. She should be getting baptized this next week. She is so amazing. We found her contacting and turns out she's really good friends with her neighbors who are members, and for the last couple of weeks has been attending church with her 4 daughters. But there has been a problem with her marriage. For some reason, she has been hesitant of marriage to her partner of like 14 years, and we never understood why. One night this week we were talking and she was like "Yeah, I don't know guys, my husband is like really loyal to his Mom who is super Catholic, I don't think he's going to be down to get married by the Mormon church." And we were all like......."Uhhhhhhh, you know you just have to get a civil marriage right?"
She got so excited, hahaha and we felt like the dumbest missionaries ever who apparently didn't teach the law of chastity as well as we should have. But now we are fine and happy.
We actually have a lot of incredible investigators who are progressing and coming to church. These next 3 weeks should be filled with baptisms. But we'll see what curve balls come our way, there are always a few.
I just feel so grateful for the mission and where I am at. Elder C and I just feel so good as missionaries and it's all so natural--talking of Christ, talking to random people, walking with fanny packs. I love what I do and do what I love.
This last change with the mission we have been working with President in "destroying the false traditions of our fathers," or the missionaries who came before us haha. It just looks like there are a few things that we have gotten used to doing that are short cuts and not the way the Lord would have us do them. That's why these practices have been cool. We've been able to break a lot of habits and make a lot of really significant changes to the way we do missionary work here in Paraguay. It's been a lot of fun.
I keep joking with President every time he says, "Yeah, the next transfer we are going to......" (something we are going to apply next change) and I'm always like "Oh yeah, that'll be fun for Elder C and his next comp right?" and he always laughs and is like "Yeah, you're right." hahaha So basically it's just an analysis of what will be my next and final area. (NO MOM, I DO NOT HAVE FREE PICK OF WHERE I WANT TO GO. THAT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT HOW REVELATION WORKS.) (On our Mother's Day call, I was asking him what he thought would happen for his last transfer. I teased him that in my mission in seemed that the AP's always got to pick where they wanted to end out their missions--and he got pretty disgusted that I would suggest such a thing. Apparently he is still concerned that I understand how revelation works. ;) In all caps, no less.)
This next week, we are going to have 2 multi-zone conferences with a special guest, the president of the MTC in Argentina, President Benton. It should be fun! I've heard he's a pretty crazy guy, but we are excited to be able to set up a good zone conference and help the mission focus on being better teachers and baptize more converts.
Thanks for the love and support, til next week.
Elder Ñambi
